Mild-mannered policy wonk by day, foodie at all other times, join me as I attempt cooking modern food in my original 1939 kitchen (don’t worry, they did remember to connect the gas) and review restaurants around Melbourne and other places that we visit. You could say I like to cook and eat, and do public policy in my spare time. I enjoy most things Japanese and am currently going through a Korean phase.
At the age of seven, Dow Sing Chinese Restaurant on High Street, Preston was my idea of haute cuisine. Thankfully my tastes have matured since then however, I am still yet to eat there and a bit reluctant to do so, for fear of shattering the dreams of that seven year old inside of me.
What you will find here is recipes and reviews, the occasional essay with a cultural bent and sometimes a bit of a rant, and a focus on Coburg with a little bit of Brunswick thrown in for good measure. For Coburg related posts, check out my ‘local hero’ posts where I try to shine a bit of light on the food scene in my part of the world.
I hope you enjoy what you find here and don’t forget to leave a comment!
Love your new header! What a great pic
Haven’t ‘spoke’ to you for a while, so thought I’d come by and say hi. x
Hi Lesh
Thanks, I’d love to claim it as my own but it’s not. WordPress updated the theme I used to use, ‘Duster’, to be there new 2011 standard theme. When I changed over I lost my header photo and have been having trouble uploading one of my own, so this is one of their default images. I do like it however, I’ll change it when I work out why how to upload my own.
That must be frustrating! You may need to change the size of your image and reload? It’s abit fiddly sometimes. Speak soon x
Lol my family also grew up with Dow Sing as a favorite take away. It’s still going I think
